阴阳交荡,五行浑涵。

Yin and Yang surge and interact, the Five Elements blend and contain.

先天凝道,后天守元。

Innate essence condenses the Dao, acquired life preserves the primal origin.

八卦分列颜面,千祥脉蕴中含。

Eight Trigrams distribute across the face, countless auspicious blessings rest in facial qi vessels.

太极剖明真宰,灵机一缕深潜。

Taiji reveals the primal substance; a trace of subtle spirit lies hidden inside.

天地星宿凝躯廓,一身浑括寰宇宽。

Stars of heaven and earth shape the human frame; a single body embraces the boundless cosmos.

第二【身形合舆·三停五岳四渎】

天垂星曜,面契穹苍。

Stars hang down from heaven; the human face mirrors the firmament.

骨隆山岳,德润容光。

Bones rise like lofty mountains; inner virtue nourishes facial radiance.

三停分列三才,五岳环峙中堂。

Three Facial Divisions correspond to Heaven, Man and Earth; Five Sacred Peaks encircle the central face.

上停承天益智,中停立人宁康。

The upper forehead links to heaven to nurture wisdom; the mid-face governs human fortune and peace.

下停覆地延龄。

The lower jaw roots in earth to prolong lifespan.

耳为江、目为河,口淮鼻济,四渎流芳。

Ears stand for the Yangtze, eyes for the Yellow River, mouth as the Huai, nose as the Ji; the Four Waterways bear everlasting grace.

额耸南岳离火,鼻尊中岳德藏。

Forehead stands for South Peak bearing Fire of Li; the nose as Middle Peak stores accumulated virtue.

左颧东岳主贵,右颧西岳威扬。

Left cheek is East Peak foretelling noble rank; right cheek is West Peak displaying solemn dignity.

地阁北岳镇水,百川归海流长。

Chin as North Peak controls water momentum; hundreds of rivers converge into the endless sea.

第三【面部八卦·先后禀赋】

八卦循颜,分列灵源。

Eight Trigrams follow facial layout, marking locations of spiritual origin.

先天定质,后天运旋。

Innate constitution sets inborn nature; acquired luck shifts and revolves with time.

离明额端正气,坎沉颏畔慈渊。

Li rests on the forehead carrying upright vital energy; Kan lies beside the chin holding merciful essence.

震起左颧木德,兑清右颧金坚。

Zhen rises on left cheek embodying Wood virtue; Dui settles on right cheek with firm Metal nature.

巽临眉侧清旷,艮镇山柱安然。

Xun stays beside brows representing open-mindedness; Gen anchors the nose in tranquil stability.

乾扶右阁健稳,坤载左阁厚涵。

Qian supports the right jaw with sturdy vitality; Kun bears the left jaw with nurturing tolerance.

先天元气生根骨,后天造化润真颜。

Primal innate qi takes root inside bones; acquired natural blessings moisten one’s genuine countenance.

第四【五官六府与十二宫·相法骨架】

面开十二,星布明堂。

Twelve Palaces spread over the face like stars scattered in the sacred hall.

五官秉令,六府辅匡。

Five sense organs take charge of functions; six auxiliary facial bones offer support.

采听双耳聪慧,监察双眼明光。

Ears receive sound to harvest wisdom; bright eyes observe all worldly phenomena.

审辨中岳端秀,出纳口唇慎藏。

The upright nose distinguishes right and wrong; the mouth controls speech with cautious restraint.

保寿眉毫舒展,五德具足福长。

Well-stretched brows guarantee longevity; five complete virtues bring lasting blessings.

双辅阔隆承额,双颧高耸轩昂。

Two side temporal bones swell beneath the forehead; two cheekbones stand tall and imposing.

双颐方厚收库,流年推演行藏。

Square full lower jaws store worldly fortune; yearly fortunes are deduced by facial features.

印堂为君命相,鼻衡财库蕴藏。

Yintang governs personal fate as the core palace; the nose stores wealth reserves.

眉列兄弟恩义,上睑主田宅安详。

Brows represent fraternal affection; upper eyelids rule domestic property and peace.

卧蚕绵延子嗣,山根镇护疾殃。

Under-eye silkworm folds promise descendants; nasal root wards off illness and misfortune.

日角月角,椿萱所望;

Solar and lunar forehead peaks embody the wellbeing of one’s parents;

腮辅环绕,仆从在旁。

Jaw auxiliary bones signify loyal attendants around oneself.

眉梢远掌迁移,官禄高踞天庭。

Outer brows govern travel and relocation; high forehead rules official career.

鱼尾温润和顺,妻妾相守祯祥。

Smooth eye-tail areas bring harmonious marital bliss and good fortune.

天仓丰隆积善,福德自显昭彰。

Full side temples embody accumulated kindness, manifesting blessed virtue visibly.

十二宫藏尘世事,一身荣辱尽涵量。

Twelve Palaces contain mortal ups and downs; all glory and disgrace reside within one’s face.

第五【形气由心·皮囊业相】

纹如川泽,气色流转。

Facial lines wind like rivers and lakes; complexion and vital hue shift constantly.

相家首重神气,神散福薄途艰。

Physiognomists value inner spirit foremost; faded spirit brings meager fortune and hardships.

皮囊皆为浮迹,灵台内蕴真源。

Flesh and skin are transient appearances; the inner mind holds the true spiritual source.

形貌悉由业造,吉凶尽在心田。

All facial looks are shaped by karmic deeds; fortune and misfortune originate from the heart.

莫凭皮相判贫富,万般容色是心传。

Never judge poverty or wealth by outer looks; all facial features reflect inner cultivation.

第六【逐释六根·单根觉照】

六根其一·眼根

眼为心苗,火性中含。

Eyes are sprouts of the heart, containing the intrinsic nature of Fire.

澄明自生慧照,迷妄便落尘渊。

Clear eyes generate wise insight; delusion drags people into mortal affliction.

眸光洞明清浊,灵台长守幽泉。

Sharp sight discerns purity and filth; inner mind preserves perpetual spiritual serenity.

看破浮生假相,豁然照见真颜。

See through illusory mortal life, and instantly perceive one’s original true nature.

不逐浮华昏性体,空心澄澈守元全。

Chase no vanity to dim your essence; empty pure mind safeguards complete primal truth.

六根其二·耳根

耳藏肾智,德韵深潜。

Ears store kidney-derived wisdom, with virtuous rhythm hidden deep inside.

顺逆皆能容纳,福缘自续绵延。

Accept praise and blame equally, then blessed fate lasts endlessly.

轮廓丰盈端正,初心不扰纷缠。

Well-proportioned ears protect original mind from worldly trivial distractions.

一念静定观照,性海恒守清源。

A single tranquil thought initiates introspection; the ocean of spirit keeps its pristine source.

不随众语摇神志,寂照清虚远祸愆。

Do not let worldly words sway your spirit; quiet self-reflection keeps misfortune far away.

六根其三·鼻根

鼻居中土,息贯穹天。

The nose locates at the central Earth position; breath connects heaven and earth.

香臭皆无取舍,真如自蕴深渊。

Make no distinction between fragrant and foul scents; Tathata lies in profound inner depth.

中岳端隆气量,呼吸静观变迁。

Upright full nose marks magnanimity; observe worldly shifts through every breath.

一息周流天地,空心印证真禅。

A single breath circulates between heaven and earth; empty mind comprehends genuine Zen.

胸藏坦荡无分别,圆融大道自包涵。

Open heart leaves no biased judgment; the all-embracing Dao encompasses all existence.

六根其四·舌根

口含金德,礼义深藏。

The mouth bears Metal virtue, concealing propriety and righteousness deep within.

慎言杜绝过咎,温词广纳慈航。

Prudent speech avoids faults; gentle words ferry all beings toward kindness.

贪甘皆生尘垢,存朴自守真常。

Craving delicious tastes breeds mortal affliction; simplicity preserves eternal truth.

放下舌尖贪欲,常怀敦厚温良。

Let go of gluttonous craving; always keep honest and benevolent disposition.

善言屡屡培嘉福,口业精纯道韵长。

Kind words accumulate good fortune; pure verbal conduct prolongs the resonance of Dao.

六根其五·身根

骨正筋柔,立世端严。

Upright bones and supple tendons form a dignified bearing in the mortal world.

耽奢便迷尘境,守清自固灵源。

Indulgence in luxury traps people in mortal vanity; purity consolidates spiritual origin.

冷暖皆为幻触,沉浮尽付云烟。

Cold and warmth are illusory sensations; worldly ups and downs fade like mist and smoke.

勘破形躯泡影,不耽俗世芳莲。

Realize the body is but a bubble, never indulge in earthly fragrant lotuses.

坚守本真离逸妄,一身清净养幽泉。

Abide by innate nature to abandon frivolity; pure physique nourishes inner spiritual spring.

六根其六·意根

意统灵台,命府中含。

Mind governs inner consciousness, controlling the core of personal fate.

心宽绝诸怖惧,执深便锁尘关。

Broad-mindedness dispels all fear; stubborn obsession traps one in mortal bondage.

万法本来空寂,一念便起波澜。

All dharmas are inherently empty; one wandering thought stirs worldly turmoil.

放下千般痴妄,灵台澄澈清安。

Abandon all foolish delusions; inner mind turns limpid and peaceful.

印堂开阔凝真韵,扫尽浮虚觅本源。

Wide Yintang embodies genuine spirit; cast off vanity to seek one’s primordial root.

第七【六尘缠缚·六贼扰身】

六根驰逐,纷扰尘缘。

Six senses chase worldly desires, tangled in mortal karmic bonds.

五欲纠缠真性,本元隐没幽泉。

Five earthly cravings bind innate spirit, burying primal essence in obscurity.

眼贪万象妍色,耳恋俗曲新弦。

Eyes lust for gorgeous sights; ears indulge in frivolous worldly tunes.

鼻逐浓香浊气,舌贪厚味繁筵。

Nose chases strong aromas; tongue craves rich delicacies and feasts.

身耽软暖安逸,意生无尽攀缘。

Body clings to cozy comfort; mind spawns endless greedy attachments.

六贼乱神容貌改,气昏质滞落泥渊。

Six sensory thieves disturb spirit, altering facial looks and dragging one into degradation.

第八【男女分相·阴阳法理】

乾男正照,坤女反观。

Male of Qian follows left-to-right facial reading; female of Kun reads features from the reverse side.

阳顺左途敷化,阴逆右路回环。

Yang flows left following natural law; Yin cycles back along the right side.

男左先天立本,右随岁序推迁。

A man’s left face represents innate nature; the right shifts with yearly fortune changes.

女右凝承祖气,左流大运周全。

A woman’s right side holds ancestral vital qi; left side follows lifelong grand fortune.

形躯虽判阴阳质,道脉根源共一源。

Though male and female differ in Yin-Yang physique, they share the identical origin of Dao.

第九【形貌征心·一念改相】

发乱心躁,齿疏韵单。

Messy hair reveals restless heart; sparse teeth imply narrow temperament.

毫厘形色迁变,方寸定尽悲欢。

Tiny shifts of facial hue mirror the joys and sorrows determined by the heart.

形骸偶生瑕隙,皆由妄念波澜。

All physical flaws of the body stem from turbulent delusive thoughts.

相法本无定格,穷通尽在襟宽。

No fixed standard exists for physiognomy; fortune hinges on magnanimity of mind.

莫将皮相分高下,心性修为转命盘。

Never rank people by outer appearance; inner spiritual practice rewrites one’s fate.

第十【破执明理·众生同源】

形为外迹,心为中坚。

Body shape is outer manifestation; inner mind constitutes the core essence.

万灵同源禀性,千形一体包涵。

All living creatures share the same spiritual source amid diverse physical forms.

纵得天姿殊貌,难凭皮相傲天。

Even blessed with outstanding looks, never grow arrogant for outer appearance.

抛尽术数痴算,解开命理拘牵。

Discard blind superstitious fortune-telling and break the shackles of fatalism.

洗却胸中机谋虑,灵台坦荡自悠然。

Wash away crafty schemes; open inner mind to live freely and peacefully.

第十一【收摄六根·回光入道】

收根返照,净扫尘烟。

Restrain six senses and introspect inward, sweeping away mortal worldly dust.

六门当下清寂,千缘刹那消散。

Six sensory gates turn tranquil instantly; countless mortal attachments vanish in a moment.

离色方明真性,闻声始守真禅。

Abandon obsession with sights to realize true nature; only through hearing sounds can one begin to guard authentic Zen.

鼻离香妄清腑,舌脱贪嗔净泉。

Nose frees itself from scent delusion to purify organs; tongue abandons greed and anger to keep inner purity.

身弃浮华幻触,意空万法因缘。

Body lets go of vain sensual comfort; mind empties all karmic conditions.

一念澄虚三界净,大千法界自安然。

One pure empty thought purifies three realms; the whole cosmos rests in peaceful harmony.

第十二【烟火苍生】

拂除机巧,安步尘寰。

Cast off worldly cunning and walk calmly among mortal beings.

饱餐人间烟火,安居俗世清欢。

Taste ordinary mortal meals and enjoy simple worldly happiness.

市井往来羁客,苍生百态皆怜。

Sympathize with all wandering folks and diverse mortal lives in marketplaces.

万卷相书归一,千般形相归源。

Countless physiognomy books converge to one truth; all facial features trace back to the same origin.

不执皮囊分贵贱,唯怀慈念覆尘寰。

Never classify rank by outer skin; wrap the mortal world with compassionate thoughts.

六根觉照通真本,同证苍生平等天。

Awaken six senses to grasp primal truth; all living beings attain equal cosmic nature together.
